KSRTC Bus Station Adoor
             Adoor is located in Pathanamthitta district and is one of the prominent town in Central Travancore. Before the formation of Pathanamthitta district in 1982, Adoor was in Kollam district.
Mannadi, situated in Adoor is where Velu Thampi Dalawa, the renowned freedom fighter of Travancore and diwan (title)|diwan of Travancore Princely State, spent his last days. A historical museum, a statue of Veluthampi Dalawa and an open-air theatre are the major attractions here. The Kerala Institute of Folklore and Folk Arts functions here. The ancient Bhagavathy Temple at Mannadi has some exquisite stone sculptures.
Adoor is famous for its contribution to arts and culture, as well as for being the birthplace of well-known personalities as Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Adoor Bhasi, Adoor Bhavani, Adoor Pankajam, Adoor Govindankutty, Chandralekha, Adoor Prakash,Pazhakulam Madhu etc..
Well known events in Adoor include Ecumenical Conventions of Christian churches, Ezhamkulam Thookkam in Ezhamkulam Devi Temple, Gajamela at Sree Parthasarathy Temple, Thrichengamagalem mahadevar Temple Ulsavam, Kodumon Chilanthy Temple, and so on.
Adoor has more or less the same climatic conditions as prevalent elsewhere in Kerala, with a dry season spanning December to February and hot season from March to May. The climate is generally moderate, with temperatures rising from 20 C to 39 C. The southwest monsoon from June to September and the Northeast monsoon from October to November provide fairly good rain.
Adoor possesses fertile agricultural land and plantations. Tapioca, varieties of vegetables and spices like ginger and Black pepper|pepper are extensively cultivated. The taluk also abounds in extensive rubber plantations. Adoor is famous for its plantations of mosambi.
